Lee
Truer www.truerdreams.com Artist's Statement For as long as I can remember I have been a mystic dreamer, touching earth through making art as a spiritual devotion “Art offers an opening for the heart. True art makes the divine silence in the soul break into applause.” (Hafiz ) Lee invites you to her art song of beauty hope and healing, created in acrylics, oil pastel, mixed media, giclée prints and art cards I sit before
the blank canvas and empty my self out of expectations and worries to
reach as Wole Soyinka describes it , “a mind at silt bed”.
I spiral down plumbing numinous depths. I fire fly flicker from wavering
worlds of watery sensitivity to tidal pools of creative juiciness. I revel
in the joy of hot tropical colors, iridescence coupled with soft natural
forms for brightening a cold Minnesota winters eve. Living life as breathing
art the Balinese saying becomes my mantra, “In Bali we have no art
we do everything as well as we can.”
Lee attended Music & Art high school in New York and completed teacher training at Rhode Island School of Design. She has taught and sold her artwork for over 20 years. She currently teaches at St. Catherine’s University and offers private lessons. She is member of the Midwest Arts in Healthcare Network and Minnesota Creative Arts and Aging Network. Lee also holds a Masters in psychology and divides her time between making and teaching art and her private therapy practice. |
